A number of budget airlines head to the airport at Katowice, which is 110km to the north west of Kraków and lacks the good transport infrastructure of the official city airport.

The airport train from John Paul II International also arrives at the main station. The station has an excellent location, a mere 5-minute walk from the Old Town.
By car & bus: Route A4 from the west offers direct drives from key German cities, whilst from Warsaw road S7 is the main connection. There are no direct routes from the south or from the east.

Kraków has recently won awards for the quality of its public transport, which is a very comprehensive network of high quality buses and trams, penetrating right to the edges of the city’s boundaries. Tickets bought on trams can be used on buses, and vice versa, and each ticket allows you a certain time on the transport system, meaning journeys with changes don’t need two separate purchases. Tickets can always be bought on the tram from a machine on board or also from the driver.
